The DSHS collection of digitizd images has grown to almost 7,000 pictures covering every aspect of Donner Summit history. The collection is mostly pictures but also includes newspaper and magazine articles, headlines, maps, drawings, and artwork from Native American petroglyphs up to four thousand years old to the modern era. Although digitization, done by volunteers, of the bulk of the collection was finished in 2020, pictures continue to be found and donated so that the project continues to grow. Following initial digitization George Lamson, a volunteer, built a searchable data base uploaded to Flickr for public access and simple searches.
